    The Scientific Advisory Committee on Aquaculture (CAQ) of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) held its eleventh session in Málaga, Spain, from 10 to 12 September 2019. The session was attended by delegates and representatives from 18 contracting parties, three cooperating non-contracting parties, seven observers from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the GFCM Secretariat. The agenda also included a special session of the Information System for the Promotion of Aquaculture in the Mediterranean (SIPAM), which was organized concomitantly. Le Comité scientifique consultatif de l’aquaculture (CAQ) de la Commission générale des pêches pour la Méditerranée (CGPM) a tenu sa onzième session à Malaga, Espagne, du 10 au 12 septembre 2019. Ont participé à la session des délégués et représentants de 18 parties contractantes, trois parties non contractantes coopérantes et sept observateurs d’organisations intergouvernementales et non gouvernementales, ainsi que des représentants de l’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (FAO) et du Secrétariat de la CGPM. L’ordre du jour comprenait également une séance spéciale consacrée au Système d’information pour la promotion de l’aquaculture en Méditerranée (SIPAM), tenue conjointement.

    The third session of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) met in Madrid, Spain, from 2 to 5 May 2000 and was attended by delegates from fourteen out of twenty-two Members of the Commission. The main issues discussed during the meeting were the reports of the four Sub-Committees that met from 25 to 29 April 2000. The Scientific Advisory Committee reviewed the recommendations made by its subsidiary bodies including the Working Groups on Small P elagics and on Demersal Species, as well as the conclusions of the GFCM/ICCAT Joint Working Group on Large Pelagics. The Committee agreed on a programme of work for the intersessional period and formulated some recommendations for consideration by the Commission. The two regional projects, COPEMED and ADRIAMED, presented their progress reports and programme of work for the future. The Committee reviewed the activities of the two projects and recommended actions to be undertaken as well as issues to be considered by them.

    The fifth session of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) Committee on Aquaculture (CAQ) was attended by delegates from eleven Members of the Commission. The session reviewed the status and trends of aquaculture in the region. It appraised the activities carried out during the intersessional period, especially the work performed by the Revitalization Project of the Information System for the Promotion of Aquaculture in the Mediterranean (SIPAM) and the outcome of the two expert meetings, respectively on the re-establishment of the Network on Environment and Aquaculture in the Mediterranean (EAM) and on the merging of the Network on Technology and Aquaculture in the Mediterranean (TECAM) with the Network on Social, Economic and Legal Aspects of Aquaculture in the Mediterranean (SELAM). The Committee agreed that a single subsidiary body, entitled Coordinating Meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Groups (CMWG), be established to replace these networks. It decided that th e CMWG will initially be supported by the following three Ad Hoc Working Groups, on: Marketing, Sustainability, and on Siting and Carrying Capacity. The Committee agreed on the membership, modus operandi and mandate for the CMWG and adopted terms of reference for the Coordinator of each working group. CAQ also reviewed and endorsed a short- and medium-term reference framework for the work of the working groups. It acknowledged the training activities carried out by the International Centre for A dvanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies/Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (CIHEAM/IAMZ). CAQ elected a new Chairperson and two Vice-chairpersons for the Committee.
