    The world's agrifood systems stand at a crossroads. With 1.3 billion youth globally, the future of food, livelihoods, and economic resilience depends on their participation in agrifood systems. At the same time, agrifood systems need youth to drive productivity, innovation, and sustainability in a crucial and rapidly evolving sector.FAO's "The Status of Youth in Agrifood Systems" report is a call to action. It presents the most comprehensive, evidence-based analysis of youth in agrifood systems to date, highlighting both the opportunities and structural barriers that shape their engagement. It explores how transforming agrifood systems can enhance decent job opportunities and food security for youth, and how empowered youth can drive this transformation.It concludes highlighting policy recommendations and areas of investments to foster more equitable and sustainable agrifood systems, where rural youth are both beneficiaries and leaders of change.

    The project’s overall aim is to contribute to the sustainable achievement of food security among rural Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanian hosts, by enhancing their capacity to successfully participate in efficient sustainable Agri-food systems and building their capacities for decent work opportunities as well as advocating for food waste reduction which has a profound effect on sustainbility,food security and rural development through training sessions. As such the project will address the capacity building, assets, financing, and employment needs of the targeted beneficiaries, through a series of activities related to capacity enhancement, asset distribution, access to micro-financing, access to markets, and job creation. The reader of this factsheet will be able to have an overall idea about the project's objectives, impact, activities and outputs in both English and Arabic. يهدف المشروع الى المساهمة في تحقيق الأمن الغذائي بشكل مستدام بين اللاجئين السوريين والمجتمعات الأردنية المضيفة في الريف من خلال تعزيز قدرتهم على المشاركة بنجاح في أنظمة الأغذية الزراعية المستدامة الفعالة وبناء قدراتهم من خلال برنامج تدريبي متكامل لخلق فرص عمل لائقة وكذلك الدعوة إلى الحد من هدر الاغذية والذي له تأثير عميق على الاستدامة والأمن الغذائي والتنمية الريفية. على هذا النحو، سيعالج المشروع احتياجات بناء القدرات والتمويل والتوظيف للمستفيدين، من خلال سلسلة من الأنشطة المتعلقة بتعزيز القدرات وتوزيع الأدوات والوصول إلى التمويل الصغير و إلى الأسواق وخلق فرص العمل. سيتمكن القارئ من تكوين فكرة شاملة عن أهداف المشروع وتأثيره وأنشطته ومخرجاته باللغتين الإنجليزية والعربية.

    This brief presents the lessons learned in the domain of youth financial inclusion emerging from the implementation of the project “Integrated Country Approach (ICA) for boosting decent jobs for youth in the agrifood system”. The ICA project, funded primarily by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), is currently being implemented (for the 2019-2023 period), by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in Guatemala, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, and Uganda. The brief illustrates a range of experiences and models proposed by the ICA project and its partners to facilitate youth access to formal financial services. It presents key lessons derived from the project’s experience, including the importance of enhancing youth financial literacy and their awareness of the available offer of financial services, as well as the need to introduce innovations aimed at adapting the offer of local financial services to youth’s specific needs.
