No results found.Through the Special Fund for Emergency and Rehabilitation Activities, the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium contributed USD 500 000 to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to mitigate the adverse impacts of cyclone Remal on the livelihoods and food security of the most vulnerable farming households in the affected districts. With Belgium’s generous support, FAO, through cash+ interventions, will provide 5 050 farming households (20 200 people) with time‑critical production inputs (e.g. rice and vegetable seeds, fertilizers and agricultural tools) along with cash transfers to enable them to meet their immediate needs. This document provides a brief description of the context of the intervention and highlights the importance of the contribution in supporting the recovery of the affected communities. -

No results found.Uganda is a disaster-prone country affected by various types of hazards, with a 16 out of 191 countries ranking in terms of risk, driven by the increasing frequency, intensity and scale of disasters affecting the country. Flooding is among the top hazards, followed by droughts, epidemics and earthquakes. To reduce the impacts of the expected disaster, the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium contributed USD 1 million to FAO to implement immediate anticipatory actions to prepare the communities at risk to cope with the flooding and to enable fast recovery. -

No results found.Through the Special Fund for Emergency and Rehabilitation Activities, the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium initially contributed USD 500 000 to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to support recovery efforts in Bangladesh following the severe impact of cyclone Remal on coastal districts in May 2024. In response to further devastation from flash floods in August 2024, Belgium contributed an additional USD 350 000, enabling FAO to expand its cash+ interventions. This extended support will reach 9 050 farming households (36 200 people) with cash transfers and vital agricultural inputs to help restore rural livelihoods and improve food security. This document presents a summary of the context and highlights the importance of the contribution to recovery efforts.
