No results found.ABC-Map was designed with the specific objective of holistically assessing the environmental impacts of national policies, plans and investments in the agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) sector through Google Earth-based satellite imagery. ABC-Map helps to develop synergies and trade-offs between climate, biodiversity and land restoration actions. The Adaptation section helps to understand exposure to climate change risks and to assess climate change over time in a given area. It includes a climate and geophysical profile with, for example, information on temperature and precipitation trends over the past 40 years. The Biodiversity section covers a series of indicators that are intended to complement each other and provide a more comprehensive view of pressures and impacts on biodiversity. These indicators are average species abundance, land use change in protected areas and key biodiversity areas, and natural capital. The Carbon section aims to account for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the AFOLU sector and work towards their reduction. The Carbon section is similar to the Nationally Determined Contributions Expert Tool (NEXT), it takes into account the evolution of the carbon stock, the carbon balance and the social value of carbon. The objective of this technical manual is to provide users with (i) the detailed structure of ABC-Map, (ii) its methodological background, and (iii) the different data and factors used such as emission factors and default carbon stock values, reference values from ESVD, GLOBIO, climate and geophysical datasets among others. -

This updated technical guide for ABC-Map, the Adaptation, Biodiversity and Carbon Mapping Tool, provides an overview of ABC-Map, including the methodologies and data sources it utilizes.This third edition of the Technical Guide for the Adaptation, Biodiversity and Carbon Mapping Tool presents an updated, comprehensive, user-friendly resource which provides (i) an overview of ABC-Map, including its purpose, required inputs, and expected outputs, (ii) details on the indicators that make up ABC-Map, their methodologies and sources, and (iii) details on the overarching methodologies common to multiple indicators. Developed by FAO and IFAD, ABC-Map is a geospatial tool which enables users to assess synergies and trade-offs across climate adaptation, biodiversity, and carbon dynamics in the agriculture, forestry, and other land-use (AFOLU) sector. Users may include, but are not limited to, project designers and managers, departments or agencies supporting climate, environment and agriculture sectors, agricultural public development banks, planners and focal points in governments in relevant units, and farmer organizations. Importantly, users do not need to have prior knowledge or experience of geographic information systems (GIS) or remote sensing to use the tool.ABC-Map is available online at abc-map.fao.org -

Cette troisième édition du guide technique de l'outil de cartographie de l'adaptation, de la biodiversité et du carbone constitue une ressource actualisée, complète et conviviale, qui fournit : (i) une présentation générale d’ABC-Map, incluant son objectif, les données d’entrée requises et les résultats attendus ; (ii) des informations détaillées sur les indicateurs qui composent ABC-Map, leurs méthodologies et leurs sources ; et (iii) des précisions sur les méthodologies générales communes à plusieurs indicateurs. Développé par la FAO et le FIDA, ABC-Map est un outil géospatial qui permet aux utilisateurs d’évaluer les synergies et les compromis entre l’adaptation au changement climatique, la biodiversité et la dynamique du carbone dans les secteurs de l’agriculture, de la foresterie et des autres utilisations des terres (AFOLU). Les utilisateurs peuvent inclure, sans s’y limiter, les concepteurs et gestionnaires de projets, les départements ou agences œuvrant dans les domaines du climat, de l’environnement et de l’agriculture, les banques publiques de développement agricole, les planificateurs et points focaux gouvernementaux des unités concernées, ainsi que les organisations d'agriculteurs.
