    Monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) is an essential component of any programme or project that aims to continuously improve and provide better outcomes. The ultimate purpose of MEL is to track implementation and outputs systematically, measure their effectiveness and allow learning with the aim of improving the quality and effects of Farmer Field School (FFS) implementation while ensuring accountability to beneficiaries and donors. A sound MEL system further helps to track the progress of any project and offers evidence upon which mid-course correction in a programme can be made with a goal of achieving the project objectives and impact targets. This system is built on the premise that the data is of high quality including timeliness, representativeness and reliability; the entire data management process is critical to ensure proper and systematic data collection for decision-making and programme improvement. To ensure systematic high-quality data management processes for MEL systems, the adoption, adaptation and utilization of digital systems becomes critical. Digital systems have proven importance in enhancing real-time data collection, collation and tabulation, which further enables timely evidence-based decision-making and feedback mechanisms. This also contributes to timely learning and quality improvement of the project, as well as accelerated feedback mechanisms to the beneficiaries and various stakeholders, ultimately ensuring improved results.

    The Date Palm is one of earliest crops planted in the ancient world. It is the main source of livelihood for Egyptian farmers and their families. Besides being a source of food and animal fodder and used in trading, it is also utilised in housing construction, furniture manufacturing, home accessories and other personal needs. Date Palms are considered a national wealth, given their economic, social and nutritional and health benefits. Therefore, they must be maintained, conserved and developed since their cultivation contributes to the national domestic income by more than three billion pounds a year. In an effort to promote Date Palm agriculture and develop a national strategic framework for its expansion in newly reclaimed land, this Atlas is an essential step in the identification and characterization of Date Palm cultivars in Egypt. يعتبر نخيل البلح والتمور من أوائل المحاصيل المنزرعة في العالم القديم. تعتبر شجرة نخيل البلح بالنسبة لأماكن زراعتها في مصر، مصدر الرزق الرئيسي للأسر في هذه البلاد؛ فهي مصدر الطعام لهم ولأنعامهم، وهي مصدر البناء في المسكن وتصنيع أثاثهم ومستلزماتهم المنزلية واحتياجاتهم الحياتية بالإضافة إلى مصدر تجارتهم. تعتبر أشجار نخيل البلح والتمور ثروة قومية اقتصادية واجتماعية وصحية فيجب علينا الحفاظ عليها وصيانتها وتنميتها، حيث تدردخلا قومياً يزيد عن عشرة مليارات من الجنيهات سنوياً. وسعياً للنهوض بزراعة وتطوير نخيل البلح والتمور في إطار الاستراتيجية القومية نحو التوسع في الأراضي الجديدة، يأتي هذا الأطلس كخطوة جوهرية لتعريف وتوصيف أصناف نخيل البلح والتمور في مصر.

    This document, Part 3: Farmer Field School one-curriculum, is a crucial component of the standardized curriculum package designed for the Climate-smart Farmer Field School (FFS) initiative in Jordan. Launched under the “Building resilience to cope with climate change in Jordan through improving water use efficiency in the agriculture sector" (BRCCJ) project, this initiative aims to empower smallholder farmers to improve water use efficiency and adapt to the challenges posed by climate change. The comprehensive curriculum consists of six distinct parts, providing a structured framework for disseminating climate-smart agriculture (CSA) knowledge and technologies through participatory learning and capacity development, enabling smallholder farmers to make informed decisions and implement sustainable agricultural practices. Part 3 outlines the fundamental concepts and methods of the Climate-smart Farmer Field School, aligning with the FAO Farmer Field School Guidance Document. By promoting a "learning by doing" methodology, it empowers farmers to build climate resilience and contribute to enhanced food security, sustainable agricultural production, and improved livelihoods. The CS-FFS one-curriculum aims to achieve several key objectives: enhance the effectiveness of Farmer Field School implementation, fostering continuous improvement and adaptation to evolving agricultural challenges; improve the CS-FFS methodology, aligning it with the latest climate-smart technologies and best practices; and standardize CS-FFS implementation to ensure consistency and quality across diverse regions and production systems. This resource serves as a practical guide for both farmers and facilitators involved in the FFS modules, offering a pathway towards a more resilient and sustainable agriculture sector in Jordan by fostering participatory learning, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of climate-smart technologies.
