Synopsis (short abstract) This Data in Emergencies Monitoring (DIEM-Monitoring) report shares the results of the second round agricultural inputs survey conducted in August 2024 in Nigeria. The survey was conducted across Adamawa, Borno, Yobe and Zamfara states to gather insights into the dynamics characterizing the supply of agricultural inputs including difficulties that affect agrodealers and their needs.The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations established the DIEM-Monitoring system in June 2020. In 29 of the world’s most food-insecure countries, DIEM-Monitoring enumerators collect data at household level on shocks, agricultural livelihoods, food security and needs several times a year through computer-assisted telephone interviews and face-to-face surveys. This regularly collected and granular data is easily accessible in the form of dashboards, maps, briefs and aggregated data on the DIEM Hub, enabling partners and stakeholders to trigger immediate mitigation and response actions.

    This Data in Emergencies Monitoring (DIEM-Monitoring) report shares the results of a first round agricultural inputs survey conducted in August 2023 in Nigeria. The survey was conducted with traders in the Nigerian states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe to assess shocks and difficulties affecting their businesses, supplies, frequency and forecast of sales, needs and assistance received.The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) established the DIEM-Monitoring System to collect, analyse and disseminate data on shocks and livelihoods in countries prone to multiple shocks. DIEM-Monitoring aims to inform decision-making by providing regularly updated information on how different shocks are affecting the livelihoods and food security of agricultural populations. Information is collected from primary sources in the production process: producers, traders or marketers, input suppliers, extension officers and other key informants.
