Synopsis (short abstract) The Globally Important Agricultural Systems (GIAHS) Partnership Initiative was conceptualized and launched by FAO in 2002 at the occasion of the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa. The initiative represents an integrated policy and action framework for the recognition and dynamic conservation of unique agricultural systems around the world.

The forum will be held from 29 to 31 May in Ishikawa, Japan. The organizer in collaboration with Sado City is offering optional tours to Noto and Sado Island, GIAHS sites on 31 May and 1st of June 2013 after the closure of the forum.
