No results found.”Enhancing country capacity for United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change reporting processes for the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use sector: Uruguay” summarizes the support provided by FAO between 2014 and 2015 to the government of Uruguay, through the Monitoring and Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Mitigation in Agriculture (MAGHG) project. Uruguay was among the fifteen countries attending the FAO Mesoamerican Workshop for Emission Inventories and Mitigation Plan s in Agriculture, Land Use, Changes in Land Use and Forestry, held 21-23 July 2014 in San Jose, Costa Rica. Uruguay expressed interest in receiving support from FAO to improve their capacity in assessing emissions for the Agriculture and Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF) sectors. These sectors play an important role in Uruguay’s economy, therefore, they should be appropriately reflected in Biennial Update Reports (BURs) and National Communications (NCs) prepared by developing count ries to meet their United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) reporting requirements. The overall support provided is in line with FAO’s Corporate Strategy on capacity development, aimed at enhancing country driven development that is consistent with national circumstances and priorities, and anchored in local expertise. -
