    In Russia demand is very high on the Moscow wholesale market for what is an increasingly limited supply of Alaska pollack, although prices there are still surprisingly low. However, Alaska pollack prices are increasing on the Russian Far East market and this should filter into the Moscow market in the near future.

    The end of the summer months generally means less demand for fish products, especially in the Southern part of the continent. As a result, prices are declining for typical restaurant products such as Norwegian lobster, cephalopods and shrimp. However, buying for Christmas and New Festivity sales, will start soon and prices are likely to go up soon.

    Total supplies of groundfish will remain stable for the 2015- 2016 season, although possibly with moderately less cod coming onto the market. Overall demand seems to be strong, but prices may suffer to a small extent. Surimi production is increasing, but consumption in Europe is flat and prices are declining somewhat.
